….and i was convinced that the lyrics were “cornbread and chili.” i used to sing it that way ALL THE TIME. then i googled the song so i could [adorably and appropriately] include it in this recipe post. turns out, the lyrics are “i said where i come from, it’s cornbread and chicken. where i come from, a lotta front porch sittin’.” (fyi, i’m...
give it a whirl: candy corn cookies
in case you haven’t heard me shout it from the rooftops, my favorite blog these days is a food blog called baked bree. it’s pages full of recipes, love and gorgeous pictures that can be read here. i adopted a recipe found on her site for candy corn cookies - no, not excessively sugary desserts, but citrus-y sugar cookies creatively designed to look like the halloween favorite. i was...
adventures in the kitchen
my friend ricky told me a while back, when i got my first apartment in college, that i tend to bake and cook for people to show my love and appreciation. i couldn’t agree more, really. i take pride in taking a recipe or a concept or some ingredients and taking my time to put them together and craft them into something special for someone else.
when i’m cooking for myself, i’ll...
“how people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours.”
this quote by wayne dyer kind of sums up how i feel lately - as of my mini-revelation this week, at least. without getting into too many gritty details, i’ve been sort of feeling like crap lately. i’ve been miserable and have allowed that misery to seep into every aspect of my life. i’ve been less social, let fewer...

1) t3 tourmaline professional featherweight ceramic ionic hair dryer. i have been told by my predominately male coworkers that this is such a girl thing. that it is not uncommon for us females to try a fellow female’s hair dryer, fall in love with it, and feel that it is a necessity in our lives. my story is that i fell in love with my friend...

reblogged from nomorenaps:
Apologies in advance for sounding like an O Magazine article, but really, post-graduates, have you asked yourself what you’re doing? Have you stopped to breathe for two seconds to contemplate the choices you’re making and why you’re making them? What motivates you? Why you get up every morning and do whatever it is you do?
In my previous post, I talked a bit about how...
never ceases to impress me. ch-ch-ch-check it out.
Huw Wheldon: Let’s start, Mr Hitchcock, by discussing this whole business of frightening the audiences. Do you find that audiences are frightened by different things now from the things that frightened them when you started, what, 30 years ago... 35 years ago, making films?
Alfred Hithcock: No, I wouldn’t say so, because after all they were frightened as children. You have to remember this is all based on “Red Riding Hood”, you see? Nothing has changed since “Red Riding Hood”. So, what they are frightened of today are exactly the same things they were frightened of yesterday... because this... shall we call it this “fright complex” is rooted in everything.
